Function Rate-limiting enzyme of the cysteine catabolic process to taurine, which catalyzes the oxidation of cysteine to cysteine sulfinic acid with addition of molecular dioxygen.
Tissue Location Highest levels in liver. Significant expression also in kidney, lung and brain.
