Expressed in the cerebral cortex only in layer 4, thalamic nuclei (the mediodorsal nucleus), hippocampus (a small band of pyramidal neurons at the boundary between CA1 and CA3), interneurons interspersed throughout the hippocampus proper, interneurons in the hilus, bodies of the neurons but also their dendritic projections (at protein level)
