Protein Information
Name ADGRG5 {ECO:0000303|PubMed:37673336, ECO:0000312|HGNC:HGNC:19010}
Function Orphan adhesion G protein-coupled receptor (aGPCR) (PubMed:37673336). Ligand binding causes a conformation change that triggers signaling via guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) and modulates the activity of downstream effectors, such as adenylate cyclase (PubMed:37673336). ADGRG5 is specifically coupled to G(s) G proteins and mediates activation of adenylate cyclase activity (PubMed:37673336).
Cellular Location Cell membrane {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q3V3Z3}; Multi-pass membrane protein
Tissue Location Expressed in immune cells. Primarily found in granulocytes. Found in eosinophils.
Research Areas

BACKGROUND

Adhesion G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR). Transduces intracellular signals through coupling to guanine nucleotide- binding protein G(s) subunit alpha and activation of adenylate cyclase pathway. Isoform 1, but not isoform 2, is constitutively active, as evidenced by elevated basal cAMP levels, and responds to mechanical activation (shaking).
