| Function | Soluble frizzled-related proteins (sFRPS) function as modulators of Wnt signaling through direct interaction with Wnts. They have a role in regulating cell growth and differentiation in specific cell types. SFRP3/FRZB appears to be involved in limb skeletogenesis. Antagonist of Wnt8 signaling. Regulates chondrocyte maturation and long bone development (By similarity). |

Enables Wnt-protein binding activity. Involved in negative regulation of Wnt signaling pathway. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including animal organ development; negative regulation of cartilage development; and negative regulation of cell differentiation. Located in extracellular space. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; central nervous system; embryo mesenchyme; genitourinary system; and skeleton. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in lung non-small cell carcinoma and osteoarthritis. Orthologous to human FRZB (frizzled related protein).
