Function Microtubule-associated protein that promotes microtubule polymerization and regulates microtubule organization (PubMed:37192300). Plays a critical role in ensuring proper epidermal development and function by regulating mitosis in keratinocytes (PubMed:40593606). Maintains spindle pole integrity during keratinocyte division through the recruitment of the microtubule glutamylase TTLL13 to spindle poles, thereby enhancing localized microtubule glutamylation (PubMed:40593606). This modification stabilizes spindle microtubules, ensuring accurate spindle assembly, faithful chromosome segregation, and efficient mitotic progression (PubMed:40593606). May play a role in ciliary/flagellar motility by regulating the assembly and the activity of axonemal inner dynein arm.
